Ally McCoist: A Scottish Footballing Legend

Early Life and Career

Alistair Murdoch McCoist OBE (born 24 September 1962) is a Scottish former footballer who has since worked as a manager and TV pundit. Born in Bellshill, McCoist began his playing career with St Johnstone in 1978. He subsequently played for Rangers, Sunderland, Kilmarnock, and Motherwell.

Rangers Success

McCoist is best known for his successful stint with Rangers. He joined the club in 1983 and went on to become their all-time record scorer with 355 goals. McCoist won numerous trophies with Rangers, including nine Scottish Premier League titles and the 1993-94 UEFA Champions League.

International Career

At the international level, McCoist represented Scotland 61 times, scoring 19 goals. He played in two FIFA World Cups (1986 and 1990) and two UEFA European Championships (1992 and 1996).

Post-Playing Career

Following his retirement from playing in 2001, McCoist managed Rangers for five years, leading them to three Scottish Premier League titles. He has also worked as a pundit for ITV, BBC, and TalkSPORT.
