National Minimum Wage Increase in Australia

Effective July 1, 2023

New Rates Announced

As of July 1, 2023, the National Minimum Wage in Australia has increased to $23.23 per hour or $882.80 per week for employees covered by an award or registered agreement.

This new wage rate represents an increase from the previous minimum wage of $21.38 per hour or $812.60 for a 38-hour week, resulting in an increase of $1.85 per hour.

The Fair Work Commission (FWC) determined the increase after a thorough review of economic indicators and submissions from various stakeholders.

The new minimum wage will come into effect from the first full pay period starting on or after July 1, 2023.
